What is Kikora project
Kikora Street Children in Maralal is a project which aims to improve the condition of the children living on the street in Maralal (in the North of Kenya), through the training of the local staff. The trained staff offer educational and psychological support to the children and support the parents from both a psychological and economical perspective, in order to achieve a peaceful familiar, social and scholastic reintegration. The goal will be sustained by introducing new agricultural techniques, which are suitable for semi-barren areas, and which will help the targeted families to be economical independent. Moreover, we want to enhance female empowerment involving especially the mothers in the different activities, in order for them to be the promoters of the change in their family and society.
The project is supported by the Italian association AVI Onlus – “Insieme” from Montebelluna (TV) and it’s implemented by the Kenyan ngo ADI (Advocacy & Development Initiative), with headquarter in Maralal.

Cos’è il Progetto Kikora
Tramite il progetto Kikora Street Children in Maralal vogliamo migliorare la condizione dei minori che vivono in strada a Maralal (Kenya), attraverso la formazione di personale locale. Il personale formato offre supporto educativo e psicologico ai bambini e contemporaneamente aiuto psicologico ed economico ai genitori al fine di garantire una serena reintegrazione famigliare, sociale e scolastica. I genitori dei bambini vengono coinvolti nella creazione di orti in sacco per diventare più indipendenti economicamente. Vogliamo inoltre promuovere l’empowerment femminile coinvolgendo in particolare le mamme nelle varie attività affinché possano farsi promotrici del cambiamento nelle loro famiglie così come nella loro comunità.
Il progetto è supportato dall’ associazione di volontariato AVI Onlus “Insieme” di Montebelluna (TV) ed è implementato in loco da ADI Kenya (Advocacy and Development Initiative), giovane ong Kenyota.
